What happens when the genius of Black and Brown LGBTQ+ people gets co-opted, dragged kicking and screaming from the counterculture into the mainstream? Who benefits when beauty born of pain, rebellion, necessity becomes “palatable”? Who loses? How do we cope with our loss?
