In collaboration with Griot Circle Senior Center, Cumbe is presenting a monthly series of lectures on African Diaspora Dance. Join us to welcome the founder of the Garifuna Heritage Center for Arts and Culture, Luz Soliz, for an exciting lecture on Garifuna dance. With a background of West African and Arawak roots, Garifuna people originate from the Island of St. Vincent and still practice their culture today in Central America (Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Belize). Tune in for an exciting and colorful cultural experience exploring the history and meaning of these movements, then join Luz for a special dance workshop on Sunday, October 4, 2:30-3:30.
