Exploring Azonto dance, a high energy Ghanaian street style under the Afrodance umbrella that birthed some of today’s elite African dance moves. Starting with basic foundations you’ll learn texture, flavor and finish off with some combos. All levels welcome.
Crees is a Brooklyn born dancer/choreographer raised in Ghana, West Africa. Performing as early on as in kindergarten he moved to Ghana where he trained in traditional and Street Dance styles from all over the country through Alliance Française, performing on multiple national stages like the Odwira festival, Kidafest and Ghana at the 50th presidential celebration.
In the U.S., he trained in Modern Dance styles and traditional West African dance as a dance minor as a part of the Buffalo State Dance Company under Carlos Jones and Janet Reed – currently teaching locally at the Connecticut Ballet Center and Lynn Academy of Irish Dance in Stamford, Conn.where he is based. He also trains in Afrodance styles and techniques with company and agency Afro-Afrique. His performance credits include Terminal 5, “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon, Wonderama, The African Entertainment Awards USA and more. Artist credits include Eddy Kenzo, Mr Eazi, Goldlink, Adekunle Gold, and many more.
