This a two hour two part workshop:

Afro Soca Dance - In the first hour participants will learn Afro Caribbean based high energy dance steps to sweet pumping Soca music. Class is for all levels. Guaranteed to make you sweat, jump, wave & Whine!!!

Batingua Repertoire Workshop - The second hour is a Repertoire Workshop - Get a sneak peek into how Batingua Arts takes choreography, drumming, singing & piece it together to form a performance.  Witness first hand what it takes for a class dance piece to transform into a stage ready repertoire dance.

Persephone DaCosta is a renaissance woman whose passion for the arts and her community has led her to utilize dance to create change. Born of Trinidadian descent she has extensive training in dance and community development through the arts. She trained with renown Ivorian Master Dancer and Drummer Vado Diamonde and became a principal dancer in his company, Kotchegna. Later she joined Bambara Dance and Drum Company and Mikerline"s Haitian Folklore Dance Company.

She is the founder and Artistic Director of Batingua Dance & Drums Productions LLC where her choreography focuses on traditional West African, Trinidadian, Jamaican, and Haitian dances. Her choreography focuses on building unity and healing communities through sharing arts and culture from West Africa and the Afro Caribbean Diaspora.
